Just as the Covid-19 pandemic was beginning in March of 2020 John Discenza was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer. A stem cell transplant would save his life. 3 years later he'd coach the Portland (CT) High School Boys Soccer team, a team full of players he'd coach throughout youth soccer (including his son Gio), to its most successful season in years.

Endicott graduate Lauren Rahr came back to CT to go after her dream of being a high school math teacher and tennis coach. She never imagined when stepping into these positions at Lyme-Old Lyme High School that she would have found the success that she has had, but she continues to take it one day at a time, and leave lasting impacts and memories for her girls on her team.
